Hey Reader How long does it take to "change your life"? π€ This is a question I've been asking myself recently, especially given the rut I've found myself in during Quarter 2. Even though I started Q2 with a lot of motivation and enthusiasm, things quickly fell away when I found myself in a major slump. I'd been excited to make progress, but the reality was that I just felt stagnant. Projects that I'd been eager to work on got neglected and a lot of my goals were pushed to the backburner. That's not to say I didn't make progress, and I certainly achieved things, but I was just hoping for...more. Of course, my social media algorithms could sense that I needed a shake up π My YouTube feed started serving up a lot of advice that you could change your life in 6 months by disappearing, going "monk mode", and coming back unrecognisable. Colour me intrigued, but 6 months feels like a long time to focus on something and disappearing doesn't seem super realistic. But what if we could do this in a shorter amount of time without going "off grid"? The idea - Change your life in three monthsRather than disappearing for 6 months and coming back a brand new me, I'm taking a different approach. I want to see how much "life changing" I can do in 3 months and instead of disappearing, I want to take you with me. For this, I've set up the "3 Months to Change Your Life" challenge, and I'll be using it to make as much progress as possible in life areas that I feel I've been neglecting. The "3 Months to Change Your Life" ChallengeIf you'd rather watch, then read, we have a summary video that goes over what the challenge is, how to get involved, and the goals/projects I'm going to be working on for myself π I've set up this challenge with a specific person in mind though. This person is one who consistently says they want to do things, or wants to work on their goals, but day after day and month after month, they're just not making the progress they hoped for. Despite knowing what they need to do in order to make the progress they want, they just don't do it. In part, it's perfectionism holding them back. They don't want to spend time, effort, and energy on the "wrong" thing, so they default to doing nothing instead. At the same time, they're letting other commitments and life areas distract them from all those things they say they want to achieve but keep putting off. This person is me π but if that sounds like you too, then this challenge is for you πͺ Step 1. PlanIn its essence, this challenge involves identifying one specific thing that, if worked on consistently over the next three months, would have a huge positive impact on your life. The "one specific thing" is very much up to you. It could be developing a daily exercise or movement routine, aiming to reach a savings goal, decluttering your home, or anything else. The only requirement is that it's something you genuinely feel would make your life better. Once you know what you want to work on, then it's time to figure out how you'll work on it. Both the "what" and the "how" make up the first step to getting involved. We don't need a perfect plan, but knowing the first steps we'll be taking is key. Step 2. DoOnce your plan is in place though, then it's time to get to action. I'll be starting my 3 months on June 30th because I like a Monday-start, and following through to September 28th, but it's also equally valid to do a July 1st to September 30th approach. What really matters is following through πͺ Between now and June 30th, I'm working to set myself up for success by identifying how I can make action taking easier for future-me. I want to hit the ground running in Q3, but a slow start approach can also work. Be sure to consider how you want to start (and continue). Step 3. DocumentOne of my biggest challenges when it comes to goal work is not recognising the progress I'm making. To combat this, I've made it an essential step of this challenge π There are plenty of ways to document progress, and it very my depends on what life-changing thing you're working on, but some examples are:

Hey Reader Tomorrow's my birthday π₯³ Bring on 34 πͺ To celebrate, I'm throwing myself a "Thirty-Four-hoa-hoa-hoa-hoa" party, or essentially an "Eat the film" day for the Twilight movies, featuring themed snacks and drinks. But this newsletter isn't really about that (even though I'm super excited for it π) Instead, I wanted to use the occasion as a fun excuse to share 34 of my favourite things in honour of turning 34. Donβt worry, this isnβt just going to be a self-indulgent list of random...
Hey Reader Sometimes the simplest advice can be the most impactful. Back at the start of our newslettering journey together, I gave you 5 of my favourite tiny tips. (If you're new to the newsletter team, you might not have gotten that one yet. Don't worry, it's coming!) In that email, I also asked if you had a tiny tip you thought could help other members of the newsletter team. As we move into Quarter 4, I thought some of these tips were timely reminders for how we can approach what is often...
Hey Reader On September 2nd, I celebrated my 100th day in a row of exercise π₯³ If you had told January 1st Jess that this would be a milestone she'd hit this year, she'd definitely have scoffed at you. I've never been an exercise kind of person, let alone a daily exercise person. But here we are, now at 117 days in a row (186 days for the year!) What's probably more exciting than hitting the 100-day streak though is the payoff that it's had. Jess versus "The hill" Back in March, when I first...
