5 Tiny (But Powerful) Tips

Hey Reader

Sometimes the simplest advice can be the most impactful.

Back at the start of our newslettering journey together, I gave you 5 of my favourite tiny tips. (If you're new to the newsletter team, you might not have gotten that one yet. Don't worry, it's coming!)

In that email, I also asked if you had a tiny tip you thought could help other members of the newsletter team.

As we move into Quarter 4, I thought some of these tips were timely reminders for how we can approach what is often a busy season in a positive way.

Let's have a look πŸ‘€

Before we start...

Round 2 of the Change Your Life challenge is kicking off next week πŸ’ͺ

If you want to hit December 31st, celebrating all the progress you've made over the past three months, knowing that you're moving into 2026 with a head start, then this challenge is for you.

The long-story-short is that over the next three months, our +1,400 challenge members are going to be working on at least one thing that will have a genuinely positive impact on their lives.

Whether it's a health goal, home organisation, creativity, or anything else, we're committing to doing future-us the favour of getting started now 😈

The introduction video below explains how to get involved, and how to join the community of goal-getters who will be working alongside you!

I'm super excited to start, and I hope you'll join us!

Together, we're going to make awesome things happen 😊

Now, to the tips!

The idea - Tiny tips from our community

For each of the tips that were given for this newsletter, I've also paired them with a journaling prompt question that you can use to "dig a little deeper". If you find the questions useful and wanted even more journaling prompts, we now have the journaling prompt library available in the lil shop! πŸ₯³

As we go through, some of these tips you might already be familiar with.

1. Lower the bar

"House cleaning. I have learned during my 67 years that doing 25 minutes, 5 days a week keeps my house far cleaner than my longer cleaning tasks. It seems like I can wrap my head around the daily 25 minutes, but not the weekly two hours of bone-tired cleaning!" - Anon

What unappealing task could I make easier by lowering the expectations I put on myself?

2. Leave it to chance

"When feeling indecisive, flip a coin, roll a die, or draw a card from a deck (with your options assigned to color, card suits, evens/odds, etc.) to decide for you. You can stick with whatever random chance dictates, or if you notice a feeling of disappointment, voila! Now you know which option you actually liked less. Go with the other one." - Anon

What decisions do I routinely struggle with that could be made easier with this method?

3. Play to your strengths

"When I feel overwhelmed by what I don't seem to be able to get right, I write down 3 things I'm good at. Now, how can I apply these super skills to the task at hand?" - Christie

How can I use my strengths to assist me in tasks outside of my comfort zone?

4. Care less

"My life motto lately is two words. Care Less. I noticed that I care a lot, about a lot of stuff. Even little stuff. This can be exhausting. I found myself preparing in my mind for my journal for days, weeks, before putting anything in the journal, and then removing what I did, and then avoiding trying again until I somehow attained a Leonardo da Vinci level of skill that would match the level of care I have for this 'hobby'. Because I invested so much emotional attachment to a specific outcome, I forgot it was supposed to be fun." - Amber-Jasmin L

What in my life could I benefit from caring less about?

5. Energy-task matching

"Manage your energy as well as your task list. Matching the tasks to your energy levels helps you stay productive even when your energy is lower. There is no point in picking a large, brain-intensive task if your energy is not going to match the task intensity." - Sami

How much energy do each of my commonly done tasks require? When would be best to tackle these based on my energy?

Let's take action

Considering the tiny tips from our community, ask yourself

How am I applying this to my life already?
How could I apply this to my life?

Not all the tips are going to fit all people or situations, but that's the best part about a list like this. We can nab the ones that resonate, and leave the ones that don't πŸ‘Œ

A huge thanks to the community members who left their tiny tips for this newsletter; I really appreciate you sharing your advice with us!

If you want to offer up a tiny tip for any future newsletters, I'd love to have them!

Time for me to go consider how I'm going to apply these ones to life in Quarter 4 😈

Until next time!

- Jess

Hey Reader Tomorrow's my birthday πŸ₯³ Bring on 34 πŸ’ͺ To celebrate, I'm throwing myself a "Thirty-Four-hoa-hoa-hoa-hoa" party, or essentially an "Eat the film" day for the Twilight movies, featuring themed snacks and drinks. But this newsletter isn't really about that (even though I'm super excited for it 😝) Instead, I wanted to use the occasion as a fun excuse to share 34 of my favourite things in honour of turning 34. Don’t worry, this isn’t just going to be a self-indulgent list of random...

Hey Reader On September 2nd, I celebrated my 100th day in a row of exercise πŸ₯³ If you had told January 1st Jess that this would be a milestone she'd hit this year, she'd definitely have scoffed at you. I've never been an exercise kind of person, let alone a daily exercise person. But here we are, now at 117 days in a row (186 days for the year!) What's probably more exciting than hitting the 100-day streak though is the payoff that it's had. Jess versus "The hill" Back in March, when I first...

Hey Reader At this point of the year, time seems to speed up 😝 While it feels like I was just finishing my mid-year journal setup, Halloween is right around the corner. I'm getting antsy about planning for Christmas and New Year, but also super tempted to look ahead to 2026. The mindset I often fall into around this time is that any of those goals I wanted to work on this year, but haven't quite gotten around to, would make for great new year goals πŸ‘€ Why not just let the -ber months slide and...
